Clinical Supervision - Psychologists
I provide individualised clinical supervision for psychologists at any point of their career journey. I've supervised over 15 students from a range of Masters programs across NSW. I've been primary or secondary supervisor for several Clinical Psychology Registrars, and non area of practice endorsed psychologists. I've supervised many fully area of practice endorsed psychologists (Clinical and Neuropsychological).
Regardless of your training or career stage, I am able to provide board approved Clinical Supervision.
Clinical Supervision - Psychosocial Staff (Social Work, Counselling, etc)
As a Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years experience, I am able to provide specialist supervision for a range of psychosocial staff working in therapeutic spaces. Whilst my specialties are in LGBTIQ+, Drug and Alcohol, and Complex Health, I have a broad range of experience in many Mental Health comorbidities, as well as a sound understanding of basic and advanced therapeutic interventions and processes. I've supervised many psychosocial staff, from a range of disciplines, over the past 15 years. Having been an Allied Health Lead (and with a partner who is a Social Worker), I understand, value, and appreciate the differences in discipline strengths and scope.
Reflective Practice
Working in therapeutic environments can be challenging, no matter your role. I've provided reflective practice for doctors, nurses, reception staff, and peer workers, using the skills that I've developed both in my career as a Clinical Psychologist, as well as someone who has worked for many years at various levels in complex bureaucratic systems. I can facilitate and provide guidance on navigating systems,
Career Guidance
I've worked in NSW Health for 20 years, including in senior leadership roles. As such, I have a sound understanding of career planning, especially in Allied Health. For example, I recently mentored a new graduate into a level 3 role within 2 years of graduation. I am able to provide advice on advancement, as well as application and interview techniques. The sessions can be purchased as a series, or one off. Get in contact hear more and organise details.
My Approach - Be Human
I believe that supervision is a sacred space. It's a space where you get to be yourself; warts and all. It's a space where vulnerability is not only welcomed, but encouraged.
I aim to create a safe container in which the wellbeing of the supervisee sits alongside that of the client. Over my 15 years of experience providing supervision I have learnt to take a fundamentally humanistic approach. As a clinician, and supervisor, I believe that it is our first requirement to show up as a fellow human, together with our strengths, flaws and all the rest. Only when we are able to walk alongside each other in this way can growth truly appear, and only then can all the technical interventions we know provide real assistance. If you want to see me speak more about the way I work, check out this video on the NSW Health website.
My supervision is informed by a variety of theoretical backgrounds, from Deliberate Practice, to Seven Eyed Supervision, to the Zone of Fabulousness, to practices of Trauma Stewardship.
Finally, during supervision sessions it is important that I also practice vulnerability, sharing my experiences, both of success and failure. The use of humour is also essential, where appropriate, to bring levity to the sometimes serious business of the walking alongside our clients.
